An arm lift removes loose skin and fat from the inner side of the upper arm. It is used when the skin has lost elasticity — after significant weight loss, with age or for genetic reasons — and exercise or liposuction alone cannot tighten it. At ELEMENTAL it is performed by Dr. Mustafa Narwan, Consultant Plastic Surgeon.

Liposuction only — when skin is still firm and the issue is fat (VASER liposuction, J-Plasma for mild laxity).
Limited (short-scar) arm lift — for mild laxity close to the armpit.
Full brachioplasty — for marked loose skin; the scar runs along the inner arm from the armpit towards the elbow.

The choice depends on how much loose skin there is, and is made at the consultation.

Adults with stable weight (usually at least 6–12 months after weight loss), good general health, non-smokers or those willing to stop before and after surgery, who accept a visible scar in exchange for a tighter arm contour.

Compression sleeves for several weeks; arms kept below shoulder height and no heavy lifting for 3–4 weeks; office work usually after 1–2 weeks. The scar is red at first and fades over 12–18 months.

Visible scarring, widened or raised scars, bleeding, infection, seroma, delayed wound healing, asymmetry, changes in skin sensation of the forearm, blood clots and anaesthetic risks. Your individual risks are explained before you decide.
