Phlebology in Dubai

Phlebology is the branch of medicine that deals with veins — most commonly varicose veins, spider veins and chronic venous insufficiency of the legs. At Elemental Day Surgical Center in Jumeirah 1, veins are assessed with a duplex ultrasound scan and treated in a licensed day-surgery setting: the patient comes in, has the procedure and goes home the same day, without an overnight hospital stay.

Conditions we treat

Our vascular team assesses and treats varicose veins, spider veins and reticular veins, chronic venous insufficiency, heaviness and aching in the legs towards the end of the day, ankle swelling, night cramps, skin changes around the ankle, and veins that have returned after treatment elsewhere.

Sudden leg swelling, sharp pain or a hard, tender vein should be assessed by a doctor rather than self-treated — the same symptoms can be caused by conditions that are managed differently.

Vein treatments at Elemental

Elemental offers the modern range of vein treatments in one place, from injections to endovenous procedures. Which method applies to you depends on which veins are affected and on what the duplex ultrasound scan shows — this is decided at the consultation, not before it.

Vein expert consultation

Examination by a consultant vascular surgeon, diagnosis and a written treatment plan with a fixed price. The duplex ultrasound scan of the leg veins is a separate study.

Sclerotherapy and foam sclerotherapy

Injection treatment for spider veins and smaller varicose veins. A session takes 15–30 minutes and the patient walks out the same day.

EVLA — endovenous laser ablation

Laser energy is delivered inside the affected vein through a thin fibre, closing it from within, without open surgery.

Cyanoacrylate glue closure

The vein is sealed with a medical adhesive. The technique avoids injections of anaesthetic along the whole length of the vein.

Miniphlebectomy

Removal of larger surface varicose veins through punctures of one to two millimetres that do not need stitches.

Phlebologist’s tips and advice

Practical guidance on leg care, compression and prevention between appointments.

Why a day surgical centre

Elemental is a licensed day surgical centre, not a hospital department. For a vein patient this means four practical things.

Same-day discharge. Vein procedures are planned so that the patient goes home the same day, once the medical team confirms it is appropriate.

Ultrasound before any decision. The duplex scan is done on site at the first visit, so the treatment plan is based on what the veins actually do, not on how they look.

Every method under one roof. Injections, laser, glue and phlebectomy are all available here, so the choice is made by diagnosis rather than by the equipment a clinic happens to have.

One surgeon throughout. The surgeon who scans you is the surgeon who performs the procedure and sees you at follow-up.

Your first consultation

1. Discussion. The doctor asks about your symptoms, how long they have been present, previous vein treatment and your medical history.

2. Duplex ultrasound scan. The leg veins are examined with ultrasound, standing and lying down. The scan shows which veins are affected and how the blood flows — it is painless and takes about 15–20 minutes.

3. Diagnosis and options. You receive a diagnosis and a description of the treatment options that apply to your case, with what each involves and the expected recovery.

4. Written plan and price. If a procedure is appropriate, you receive a written estimate with a fixed price before anything is scheduled. There is no obligation to decide during the consultation.

Recovery after vein treatment

Recovery depends on the procedure and on the individual patient; the doctor gives specific instructions for your case.

After sclerotherapy most patients return to their usual routine immediately, with compression stockings worn for the period the doctor specifies. After endovenous procedures such as laser ablation, glue closure or miniphlebectomy, walking is encouraged the same day, while gym training, long flights and sun exposure are paused for the time set out at the consultation.

Bruising and tightness along the treated vein are common in the first weeks and settle gradually. You receive written aftercare instructions and a follow-up appointment, usually with a repeat ultrasound scan. Contact the clinic if you notice increasing pain, spreading redness, fever or sudden swelling of the leg.

Cost of vein treatment

Your first step is a consultation with the consultant vascular surgeon at Elemental — AED 750. It covers the examination, the diagnosis and a discussion of the options for your case.

The duplex ultrasound scan of the leg veins is a separate study: AED 1,200 for one leg and AED 1,600 for both legs. It is usually done at the same visit, so the treatment plan is based on what the veins actually do.

The cost of a procedure depends on the diagnosis, on how many veins and which legs are involved, and on the technique used. After the consultation you receive a written estimate with a fixed price — before anything is scheduled, so there are no surprises on the day of treatment.

Prices updated: August 2026.

Vein treatment at ELEMENTAL starts from AED 2,500 — sclerotherapy for smaller veins at the lower end, miniphlebectomy from AED 3,500, laser ablation from AED 14,000 and glue closure from AED 18,000. Which one applies is decided by the duplex scan, and the final cost is confirmed in writing after your consultation, before anything is scheduled.

Your vascular surgeon

Vein procedures at Elemental are performed by Dr. Peter Lassu, Consultant General Surgeon (vascular and laparoscopic surgery) (DHA License 64033332-005), with over 27 years of surgical practice in Hungary, the United Kingdom and Dubai.

His phlebology practice covers duplex ultrasound assessment of the leg veins, sclerotherapy and foam sclerotherapy, endovenous laser ablation, cyanoacrylate glue closure and miniphlebectomy. The surgeon who scans you is the surgeon who performs your procedure and sees you at follow-up.
