Why a day surgical centre is a different format

A day surgical centre is built around a single principle: you arrive in the morning and go home the same day. There is no overnight ward, no hospital routine, and no long admission process. ELEMENTAL is licensed by the Dubai Health Authority as a day surgical centre, licence number 5323888, and works Monday to Sunday from 08:00 to 20:00 at 113 Jumeirah Street, Jumeirah 1.

That format changes what comfort means. In a hospital, comfort is mostly about the room. In day surgery, it is about the hours — how predictable they are, how much waiting there is, and how clearly you know what happens next.

Before the day of the procedure

Every procedure under anaesthesia begins with a consultation and, separately, an assessment by the anaesthetist. Which medicines to pause, when to stop eating and drinking, and whether you need someone to accompany you home depend on the type of anaesthesia, the procedure itself and your condition — your doctor goes through all of this at the consultation.

If you take regular medication, bring the list with you. If you have had an operation before, bring the discharge summary. Both shorten the preparation and reduce the number of questions on the day itself.

The day itself

You arrive at the time given to you, not earlier — the schedule is built so that patients do not overlap in the waiting area. Reception completes the paperwork, and you are shown to the waiting area or directly to your room, depending on the procedure.

The waiting areas are designed for privacy rather than volume: seating is spaced, and the lobby bar serves tea, coffee and cold drinks for those waiting with you. Companions do not have to sit in a corridor.

Before the procedure you change, speak to your surgeon once more, and meet the anaesthetist again. The procedure room is prepared for you specifically.

Recovery and going home

After the procedure you wake up in a recovery area under observation. How long you stay depends on the type of anaesthesia and how you feel — it is a clinical decision, not a fixed number of minutes, and no one will move you along because the schedule says so.

Discharge happens only after the surgeon and the anaesthetist both confirm you are ready. You leave with instructions: what to expect in the first days, what is normal, what is not, which symptoms require a call, and when to come back for review.

After you leave

Most questions in the first 48 hours are about swelling, dressings and pain relief, and most are answered in a short conversation with the clinic.

If you are deciding where to have a procedure

Two practical things are worth checking at any clinic, not only here. First, that the doctor who will perform your procedure is licensed for it — we wrote separately about how to check a doctor's DHA licence in Dubai. Second, that you are told in advance what the day will look like, hour by hour. A clinic that cannot describe your day probably has not planned it.
