Lipoma and Cyst Removal in Dubai

• Lipoma — a benign fatty lump under the skin, usually soft and mobile. Removed surgically through a small incision. Size and depth decide the approach.
• Sebaceous and epidermoid cyst (atheroma) — a capsule filled with keratin material. Complete removal of the capsule matters: leaving part of it behind is the usual reason a cyst returns.
• Pilar cyst — a similar cyst on the scalp, often multiple.
• Ganglion — a fluid-filled swelling near a joint or tendon.
• Dermatofibroma — a firm nodule in the skin, most often on the legs.
• Inflamed or previously infected cysts — timing matters here; an actively inflamed cyst is usually settled first and removed later.

Any growth that looks atypical is examined first and, where indicated, sent for laboratory analysis. We do not remove a suspicious lump for cosmetic reasons without that assessment.

The method is chosen for the growth, not the other way round. The main factors are its type, depth, location and whether tissue needs to go to the laboratory.

• Surgical excision — the standard approach for lipomas and cysts, and for anything that must come out complete with its capsule. Performed under local anaesthesia through a small incision placed to suit the site, with sutures chosen for that area.
• Minimal-incision technique — for suitable lipomas, a shorter incision with the growth delivered through it. Depends on size, depth and consistency.
• Punch excision — a small circular instrument removes a full-thickness core of skin. Used for small lesions and for diagnostic sampling.
• Mole, wart and skin tag removal — used during the procedure for immediate control of bleeding, and on its own for small superficial lesions.

Anaesthesia is local in the great majority of cases. Sedation is discussed separately where the size or number of growths makes it appropriate.

Where the nature of a growth needs to be confirmed, the removed tissue is sent for laboratory analysis. This is standard practice for anything that does not look entirely typical, and it is discussed with you before the procedure rather than afterwards. The result is reviewed with you at follow-up.

2. Decision. Method, anaesthesia, whether histology is indicated, what the recovery involves.
3. Procedure. Same-day removal in many cases, under local anaesthesia.
4. Aftercare. Wound care instructions, suture removal if needed, follow-up.
5. Result. Where tissue was sent to the laboratory, the report is reviewed with you.

Most outpatient removals allow a return to routine activity the same day. Specific restrictions — showering, exercise, sun exposure, wound dressing — depend on the site and the method, and are given to you in writing after the procedure. Scarring depends on the size and location of the lesion, on the technique and on individual healing.

• Do not attempt to remove a lump yourself or at a non-medical salon. Incomplete removal, infection and an unexamined growth are the three risks that matter here.
