HIFU treatment — high-intensity focused ultrasound, sometimes described as a non-surgical SMAS lift — is performed at ELEMENTAL Day Surgical Center in Jumeirah 1, Dubai on the Ultraformer MPT platform by a DHA-licensed physician. Pricing starts from AED 1,000 for one area, such as an eye and brow lift of up to 100 shots. A physician consultation is required before any treatment is planned. Individual results vary.

Ultraformer MPT is a micro-focused ultrasound platform — MMFU — used at ELEMENTAL Day Surgical Center for non-surgical lifting and skin tightening of the face, neck and body. Treatment is planned and performed by a DHA-licensed physician at 113 Jumeirah Street, Jumeirah 1, under DHA facility licence 5323888.

The short version: focused ultrasound is delivered below the skin surface, at depths selected for the area being treated, without breaking the skin. The tissue response develops gradually over the following weeks and months. It is not a facelift, it does not remove skin, and it will not do what surgery does — and where surgery is the honest answer, the consultation will say so.

How the device works

Ultraformer MPT is made by CLASSYS (Republic of Korea), model UF4-M400. It delivers micro-focused ultrasound to a set of fixed depths — 1.5, 2.0, 3.0 and 4.5 mm for the face, and 6.0, 9.0 and 13.0 mm for the body — through interchangeable cartridges, each matched to a treatment area. Energy is deposited at the chosen depth, leaving the surface of the skin intact.

The MPT generation adds a micro-pulsed mode alongside the standard mode. In practical terms the energy of each pulse is divided into finer units, which allows denser coverage and a faster session. There is also a booster handpiece for more superficial work on skin quality.

What this means for a patient is narrower than the marketing usually suggests: the depths available determine which layers can be reached, and the physician chooses among them after examining your tissue. The same treatment name does not mean the same plan on two different faces.

Who it suits, and who it does not

The treatment is aimed at adults with mild to moderate laxity who want an improvement without an operation and who understand what an improvement means here. It works with the tissue you have. It does not remove excess skin.

Where the laxity is marked, where there is a real excess of skin, or where the concern is volume rather than tone, a device will disappoint, and the honest options are volume correction, minimally invasive treatment, or surgery. All three are available in the same building, and the consultation will point to whichever is right rather than to whichever is booked that week.

Contraindications and honest limits

Treatment is not carried out where there is active infection, an open wound or marked inflammation in the area. Pregnancy and breastfeeding, implants or electronic devices in the treatment area, altered sensation, bleeding disorders or anticoagulant therapy, recent procedures or surgery in the area, and a tendency to abnormal scarring all require individual assessment and may mean the answer is no, or not yet.

Expectations matter too. A request for the result of a surgical lift is a reason to discuss surgery, not to book a device.

Risks

Discomfort during treatment is expected and varies between areas and between people; the sensation is usually described as brief heat or a pinprick deep in the tissue. Redness, swelling, tenderness and bruising are common afterwards and settle over days. Temporary changes in skin sensation can occur.

Serious events are rare but have been reported with micro-focused ultrasound and are discussed with you before you consent: burns or blistering, changes in contour, and effects on nerves in the treated area. Any blistering, muscle weakness, progressive change in sensation or visual symptom after treatment is reviewed by the medical director immediately — and being inside a licensed day surgical centre is exactly why that review is available.

What a session involves

1. Physician consultation: examination of skin quality, tissue thickness and the degree of laxity; a decision on whether this device is the right level of treatment at all.
2. A treatment map drawn on the skin, so you can see the areas before anything is done.
3. The treatment itself. A small area takes considerably less time than a full face; the physician gives you the time for your plan.
4. Aftercare instructions and a written record of the areas, cartridges and settings used.
5. A review appointment, with standardised photographs, at 90 days — because that is when the tissue response is developed enough to judge.

There is no wound and no dressing, and most people return to normal activity the same day. Sedation is not part of the standard pathway.

When you see a change, and how long it lasts

The tissue response is gradual. Any immediate effect is small; the change that matters develops over the weeks that follow and is assessed at the 90-day review. How long it holds depends on age, skin quality, weight change and lifestyle, and it is not permanent — the ageing that produced the laxity continues. Maintenance intervals are set individually at the review, not sold in advance.

Combining it with other treatments

Ultraformer MPT is the non-invasive step. Where texture and skin quality are also a concern, fractional radiofrequency microneedling is the usual partner treatment — see Morpheus8; where the contour involves fat, minimally invasive correction is considered; where there is structural laxity, plastic surgery is the honest answer. Sequence and intervals between treatments are set by the physician from the manufacturer instructions and your own tissue, and treatments are staged rather than stacked into a single visit.

Who performs it

Treatment is carried out by a physician holding a current Dubai Health Authority licence at this facility, with device-specific training.
