Morpheus8 — also written Morpheus 8 — is fractional radiofrequency microneedling, performed at ELEMENTAL Day Surgical Center in Jumeirah 1, Dubai by a DHA-licensed physician. Prices start from AED 1,600 for the eye area and from AED 2,600 for the face. Expect redness, swelling and a fine grid pattern for several days, with dryness and light flaking in the first week, so plan the treatment around anything that matters socially. Morpheus8 is fractional radiofrequency microneedling technology from InMode Ltd. At ELEMENTAL Day Surgical Center it runs on the InMode IgniteRF platform — the manufacturer’s new-generation RF workstation, released as the successor to the original stand-alone Morpheus8 unit. IgniteRF carries several radiofrequency handpieces, so microneedling is one of the treatments this platform performs rather than the whole of it. It is used to remodel skin texture and tighten lax skin on the face, neck and body. Treatment is planned and performed by a DHA-licensed physician at 113 Jumeirah Street, Jumeirah 1, under DHA facility licence 5323888.

The short version: fine insulated microneedles pass through the skin surface and deliver radiofrequency energy into the layer below it. The needles make the channels, the radiofrequency does the work. The response builds over the weeks that follow, and it usually takes a course rather than one visit.

What the new-generation platform adds

Compared with the original Morpheus8 unit, the IgniteRF workstation (as specified by the manufacturer, InMode) brings:

• Multi-depth RF in a single pulse. Burst technology deploys bipolar radiofrequency to several treatment depths in millisecond intervals within one pulse — more uniform remodelling with fewer passes.
• A wider programmable range. From superficial resurfacing to deep structural remodelling with Prime 12-pin, Morpheus8 24-pin, Resurfacing 24-pin and Morpheus8 40-pin tips.
• Built-in safety monitoring. Real-time skin-temperature measurement, impedance monitoring and automatic power cut-off run throughout the treatment.

What it is used for

• Texture and scarring — uneven surface, enlarged pores, and acne scarring.
• Fine lines and skin laxity — the cheeks, around the eyes and the lower face.
• Jawline and neck — definition where the concern is skin quality rather than volume.
• Body — abdomen, arms, thighs and above the knees, where the skin has lost firmness.

Morpheus8 — from AED 1,600. The final fee is confirmed in writing after the physician assessment, because the area, the number of passes and the number of sessions are a clinical decision and not a package sold in advance.

How the device works

The handpiece is made by InMode Ltd. A tip carrying a matrix of insulated microneedles is placed against the skin; the needles penetrate to a depth the physician selects, and radiofrequency energy is released from their tips into the dermis. Because the needle shafts are insulated, the energy is concentrated at depth rather than on the surface.

The platform is modular: several tips are available — Prime 12-pin, Morpheus8 24-pin, Resurfacing 24-pin and Morpheus8 40-pin — and the tip, the depth and the energy are chosen for the area and for your skin, within the manufacturer's current instructions for use. On 17 July 2024 the device received a US FDA 510(k) clearance for the delivery of fractional radiofrequency in dermatologic procedures where coagulation or contraction of soft tissue, or haemostasis, is needed.

We do not publish depth and energy settings. They belong in your treatment record, not in an advertisement, because the same number is right for one patient and wrong for another.

Skin type matters here

Radiofrequency microneedling can be used across a wide range of skin tones, and that is one of its practical advantages over some resurfacing lasers. It is not risk-free in darker skin: post-inflammatory pigmentation is the complication to plan around. Your Fitzpatrick skin type is assessed at the consultation, settings are adjusted accordingly, and where the risk is high the physician will say so and may recommend preparation of the skin first, a more conservative plan, or a different treatment altogether.

Who it suits, and who it does not

The treatment is aimed at adults with mild to moderate laxity or textural change who want improvement without an operation. It works with the tissue you have.

Where there is a real excess of skin, or where the concern is volume rather than skin quality, a device will disappoint, and the honest options are volume correction or surgery. Both are available in the same building, and the consultation will point to whichever is right rather than to whichever is booked that week.

Contraindications and honest limits

Treatment is not carried out where there is active infection, an open wound or marked inflammation in the area. Pregnancy and breastfeeding, an implanted electronic device, metal implants in the treatment area, bleeding disorders or blood-thinning therapy, recent courses of strong acne medication, a tendency to raised or abnormal scarring, an active cold-sore outbreak in the area, and recent procedures or surgery in the area all require individual assessment and may mean the answer is no, or not yet.

Risks

Redness, swelling, pinpoint bleeding and a visible grid pattern are expected immediately afterwards and settle over several days. Tenderness, dryness and light flaking are common in the first week. Bruising can occur, more often on the neck and body.

Less common but real: changes in pigmentation — darker or lighter than the surrounding skin — which are more likely in deeper skin tones and after sun exposure; infection, including reactivation of cold sores; burns or marks where energy was delivered too superficially; and scarring. Any blistering, spreading redness, fever or a wound that is not healing is reviewed by the medical director immediately — and being inside a licensed day surgical centre is exactly why that review is available.

What a session involves

1. Physician consultation: assessment of skin type, texture, scarring and laxity; a decision on whether this device is the right level of treatment at all.
2. Topical anaesthetic, applied and given time to work. Most people describe the treatment itself as tolerable rather than comfortable.
3. The treatment. A single small area takes considerably less time than the full face and neck; the physician gives you the time for your plan.
4. Aftercare instructions and a written record of the areas, tips and settings used.
5. Review with standardised photographs, timed to your plan.

Expect to look visibly treated for a few days — redness and a fine grid pattern — so it is worth booking around anything that matters socially. Strict sun protection afterwards is not optional, particularly in Dubai.

When you see a change, and how long it lasts

The response is gradual. Little is visible in the first week beyond the healing itself; the change that matters develops over the following weeks and continues after the course is finished. Most plans involve a series of sessions spaced several weeks apart, and the number is set at the consultation, not sold in advance.

How long it holds depends on what was treated. For acne scars and stretch marks the remodelled tissue does not go back on its own: the change is lasting unless the cause returns. For laxity the result is typically expected to hold for eighteen months to three years, depending on age, skin quality, weight change, sun exposure and lifestyle — the ageing that produced the change continues.

Combining it with other treatments

Who performs it

Treatment is carried out by a physician holding a current Dubai Health Authority licence at this facility, with device-specific training.
