Periorbital Fat Transfer (Lipofilling) & Facial Rejuvenation in Dubai
What periorbital fat transfer does
The eye area is usually the first part of the face to lose volume. The under-eye hollow deepens, a shadow appears that no concealer fixes, the temple flattens and the brow loses its support — and the face starts to read as tired regardless of how rested you are. Skin tightening does not solve this, because the problem is not loose skin but missing volume beneath it.
Fat transfer, or lipofilling, restores that volume using your own tissue. Fat is taken from an area where there is a surplus, prepared, and placed in small quantities where it is needed — the tear trough, the temple, the brow, the midface.
Why the eye area is different
The skin of the lower lid is the thinnest on the body, and the tissue planes around the eye are shallow and unforgiving. Too much material, or the wrong depth, shows immediately as lumpiness or a bluish shadow, and it is far harder to correct than it was to create. The orbit also contains structures that no aesthetic plan may put at risk.
At ELEMENTAL this is performed by Dr Hanna Barinova, Specialist Ophthalmologist (DHA licence 91913741), whose surgical practice is the eyelid and the orbit. The anatomy around the eye is her working field, not an adjacent area.
Who it suits, and who it does not
It works well where the problem is genuinely volume: a hollow tear trough with good skin quality, a flattened temple, early midface descent, asymmetry after previous surgery or weight loss.
It is the wrong operation where the main issue is excess skin or a bulging fat pad — those need blepharoplasty, and adding volume would make them worse. It is also not advised where there is significant lower-lid laxity, active inflammation of the lids, or unrealistic expectations of a single session. If your case falls into that group, you will be told so at the consultation rather than sold a procedure.
How the procedure goes
The donor area — usually the abdomen or inner thigh — is agreed with you beforehand. Fat is harvested through a small opening under local anaesthetic, often with sedation, then processed and placed through a fine cannula in layered micro-deposits rather than a single bolus. The openings are a few millimetres and are closed with a single suture or left to heal.
The procedure is performed in our own operating theatre at the day surgical centre in Jumeirah 1, and you go home the same day.
Recovery, and an honest word about the result
Swelling and bruising around the eyes are expected and are usually at their most noticeable in the first three to five days. Most people are presentable within a week to ten days.
The point that matters: not all of the transferred fat survives. A proportion is reabsorbed over the first months, which is normal and expected, and the settled result is assessed at three to six months. A second, smaller session is sometimes planned to refine the outcome — this is discussed with you in advance, not presented afterwards as a complication. Individual results vary.
Combining with eyelid surgery
Volume restoration and eyelid surgery often belong together: removing excess skin without addressing the hollow beneath it can make the eye look more skeletal, not younger. Where both are indicated, they can be planned in one operating session, which means one recovery instead of two.
Whether that applies to you is decided at examination — the assessment covers lid position, skin quality, lower-lid support and the underlying bone structure, not just the hollow you came in about.
Cost and the next step
Initial consultation with the ophthalmologist — AED 1,100, up to 45 minutes. Follow-up consultation — AED 600. The cost of the procedure depends on the areas treated, the volume required and whether it is combined with eyelid surgery; it is confirmed to you in writing after the examination.
Prices updated: September 2026. Consultation required; individual results vary.
