EVLA Laser Treatment in Dubai
Laser Treatment for Varicose Veins in Dubai
At ELEMENTAL Day Surgical Center in Dubai, we offer advanced laser treatment for varicose veins – a modern, minimally invasive solution to eliminate painful and unsightly leg veins.
This procedure, also known as endovenous laser therapy (EVLT) or endovenous laser ablation (EVLA), uses laser energy to seal off problem veins, providing a well-established alternative to traditional vein stripping surgery.

Benefits of Endovenous Laser Ablation
Choosing EVLA for varicose veins offers a range of benefits over traditional vein stripping surgery.
- Minimally invasive – no incisions, no general anaesthesia. The entire procedure is performed through a single tiny puncture (less than 2mm) under local anaesthesia, which avoids the risks and long recovery of major surgery
- Outpatient, walk‑in, walk‑out treatment. EVLT is typically completed in 45‑90 minutes, and you can return home the same day
- High clinical success rate (98%). The treated vein is reliably sealed off, and over time it shrinks and is naturally absorbed by the body
- Immediate return to normal activities. Most patients resume work and daily routines within 1‑3 days. Walking is encouraged immediately after the procedure, while strenuous exercise may be resumed after 1‑2 weeks
- Minimal discomfort and rapid recovery. Thanks to tumescent anaesthesia, most patients report only mild discomfort during the procedure, and any bruising or tightness typically resolves within 2‑4 weeks
- No hospital stay, no scars. The puncture site is so small that it does not require stitches, leaving virtually no trace

How is the procedure performed?
- Before EVLT surgery, the surgeon determines the affected area of the vein and the amount of energy that will be needed for laser coagulation. Then, under ultrasound control, a vein is punctured and a laser fiber inserted in the treated vein close to the point where it enters the deep venous system. After this, local anesthesia is given.
- With EVLT, tumescent anesthesia is used, which allows you to numb only the affected vein. This technique protects nearby tissue from the heat of the laser and pushes out the blood as the vein shrinks. Next, the surgeon double-checks the location of the laser fiber with ultrasound and begins laser coagulation.
- Side branch varicose veins may be removed using Varady hooks through punctures or may be treated with sclerotherapy at the same time. After all the manipulations, the punctures are sealed with special adhesives and compression garments are put on. The entire operation lasts approximately 30-60 minutes.
Who is a Candidate for Laser Varicose Vein Treatment?
Laser treatment for varicose veins is indicated for a range of bothersome symptoms and conditions:
- Bulging, rope‑like veins on the legs, particularly on the calves or thighs, caused by venous insufficiency (failed valves that allow blood to pool)
- Chronic leg discomfort, including a feeling of heaviness, throbbing, aching, burning, or swelling that worsens after prolonged standing or sitting
- Itching around the veins or skin changes such as discolouration, eczema, or thinning
- Night cramps and restless legs, which often disrupt sleep
- Superficial thrombophlebitis (inflamed, painful blood clots just under the skin)
- Cosmetic concerns – many patients seek treatment to improve the appearance of their legs by eliminating unsightly bulges and visible ropes

before and after results
EVLA endovenous laser ablation from AED 14,000. The final price is confirmed in writing after the duplex ultrasound and depends on the number and length of the veins treated.
At ELEMENTAL this treatment is carried out by Dr. Peter Lassu, Consultant General Surgeon (vascular and laparoscopic surgery).
There is no guarantee that the result will be the same, as it might vary from one individual to another.
Like any medical procedure, endovenous laser treatment has risks. Your surgeon explains them to you in full at the consultation, before you give consent.

Choosing between EVLA, glue closure, foam sclerotherapy and phlebectomy
The choice is made on the duplex scan, not on preference. The scan shows which vein is refluxing, how wide it is, how deep it runs and how it connects to the deep system, and that determines which method is appropriate. A leg often needs two of these together — the trunk closed and the visible branches dealt with — and that is planned in one sitting.
| Method | What it treats | Anaesthesia | From (AED) |
| EVLA (endovenous laser) | Refluxing great or small saphenous trunk | Tumescent local | 14,000 |
| Cyanoacrylate glue closure | Trunk closure without tumescent anaesthesia or a post-procedure stocking regimen | Local at the entry point | 18,000 |
| Foam sclerotherapy under ultrasound | Tributaries, recurrent veins, veins unsuitable for a catheter | None | 3,500 per session |
| Miniphlebectomy | Bulging surface branches, removed through pinhole incisions | Local | 3,500 |
Before any of them: a consultation with Dr. Peter Lassu, Consultant General Surgeon, AED 750, and a duplex ultrasound with Doppler — AED 1,200 for one leg, AED 1,600 for both. The scan is a separate examination, not part of the consultation fee. Prices updated: September 2026.
Individual results vary; consultation required. Prices updated: September 2026.
Recovery week by week, and the follow-up scan
Day of the procedure. You walk out and walk that evening. A compression stocking is fitted before you leave and worn as instructed. Driving is not advised on the day.
First week. Tightness along the treated vein and bruising at the puncture sites are expected, and a pulling sensation as the closed vein contracts is common around day five to ten. Desk-based work is usually resumed the next day; long flights and heavy lifting are avoided for the period the surgeon sets.
Weeks two to six. The treated vein is gradually absorbed. Where tributaries were injected or removed, the skin over them can stay discoloured for several weeks. Loaded exercise resumes with the surgeon's clearance.
Follow-up. A duplex scan is repeated at the interval the surgeon sets, to confirm the vein has closed and to check the deep system. Varicose veins are a chronic condition of the vein wall and valves: closing one vein treats what is there, and new veins can appear over the years, which is why the follow-up scan and the review of risk factors matter as much as the procedure. Individual recovery varies, and every procedure carries risks, which are explained to you in writing before you consent.
