Professional help for your feet
If you have noticed bulging, twisted veins on your legs, or if you often experience a heavy, achy feeling, throbbing, or cramps in your lower limbs, you may be one of the many people suffering from varicose veins. This condition occurs when tiny valves inside the veins weaken, allowing blood to pool and the vessel walls to stretch.
At ELEMENTAL Day Surgical Center in Dubai, our leading vascular surgeon, Dr. Peter Lassu, offers a comprehensive phlebology consultation to diagnose the root cause of your vein problems and design a personalized, minimally invasive treatment plan.
A consultation with a phlebologist is the first and most crucial step toward relieving painful symptoms, improving the appearance of your legs, and preventing more serious complications like skin ulcers or blood clots.

Why You Might Need a Phlebology Consultation
A consultation with a vascular specialist is recommended if you experience any of the following symptoms related to venous insufficiency:
- Visible vein changes: Dark blue or purple, twisted, bulging veins just under the surface of the skin. Small, web-like red or blue veins (spider veins)
- Leg discomfort: A heavy, achy, or tired feeling in the legs, especially after long periods of standing or sitting. Throbbing, burning sensations, or muscle cramps in the lower legs, often worsening as the day progresses
- Swelling and skin changes: Swollen ankles or feet, itchy or burning skin around the affected veins, or a darkening of the skin near the ankles (venous stasis dermatitis)
- Restless legs: A persistent, uncomfortable urge to move your legs, particularly in the evenings or at night, which disrupts sleep. Some patients also report bleeding from a varicose vein or a painful, hard cord in the vein indicating superficial inflammation (thrombophlebitis)
The Advantages of a Phlebology Consultation at ELEMENTAL
Choosing ELEMENTAL Day Surgical Center for your phlebology consultation provides you with immediate access to advanced diagnostics and expert care, all within a single, comfortable outpatient setting. Here is what you can expect during your visit with Dr. Peter Lassu:
- Comprehensive medical history: Dr. Lassu will take a detailed history to understand your symptoms, risk factors, and overall health
- Physical examination: A thorough visual and physical exam of your legs, both while standing and lying down, to assess the severity and location of the affected veins
- Duplex ultrasound: This is the gold‑standard, non‑invasive diagnostic test for venous disease. It uses sound waves to create images of your vein structure and precisely measure blood flow, allowing Dr. Lassu to pinpoint which veins are faulty and develop an exact treatment roadmap. There is no radiation and no needles involved
- Personalized treatment plan: After a full evaluation, Dr. Lassu will explain the diagnosis and discuss the most effective, least invasive treatment options tailored specifically to your condition and goals
Advanced, Minimally Invasive Treatments for Varicose Veins
Based on the results of your consultation and ultrasound, Dr. Peter Lassu may recommend one of the following state‑of‑the‑art, minimally invasive procedures, which are performed on an outpatient basis, meaning you return home the same day. These modern techniques close or remove problem veins with little pain and very rapid recovery.
- Endovenous Laser Therapy (EVLT): A thin laser fiber is inserted into the enlarged vein through a tiny puncture under local anesthesia. Laser energy heats the vein wall, causing it to collapse and seal shut. The closed vein is then naturally absorbed by the body
- Glue Ablation : Similar to EVLT, but uses medical glue to close the diseased vein. There is no heat, therefore doesnt require tumescent anesthesia.
- Sclerotherapy (Liquid or Foam): A medical solution is injected directly into small or medium varicose veins and spider veins, irritating the lining and causing the vein to collapse and disappear
- Ambulatory Phlebectomy: For very large, bulging surface veins that are not suitable for laser or sclerotherapy. The vein is removed through a series of tiny, stitch‑less incisions, leaving almost no scars
